What to Wear for Winter Season

The primary reasons why people wear clothes are to feel comfortable and to protect the body against unfavorable weather conditions like strong wind, intense heat, cold, and rain. The styles and designs of clothes usually vary as to when the clothing is going to wear and who will wear. During warm seasons, the clothes fabrics are usually lighter than those outfits for cold seasons. Sleeveless, tank tops or short sleeve shirts are among the most in demand styles of apparel. And when winter season comes, people wear thicker materials and more layers of clothing. Such kind of clothing is needed for temperature management.

People normally need three layers of clothing during winter seasons. Layering is the easiest way to protect the body from the adverse of climate condition. It also allows you to mix and match the items in your wardrobe. If clothes are properly used, they can make a big difference between a miserable and a memorable journey.

For you to have an idea about the clothes often used for layering, we provided some examples below.

The first layer or the base layer is made from close-fitting absorbent fabrics whose purpose is to wick moisture away from the body at the same time insulate the body against cold. These are the undergarment and street clothing like custom t-shirts, jersey, polo shirts and the likes. For better control of body temperature, using long underwear (thermals) is a good idea.

The second layer or the middle layer is intended to retain body heat and allows air to circulate through it. Clothes perfect for middle layer are something bulky and loose-woven. Heavy and bulky wool sweater fleece jackets or synthetic vest are good examples of clothes used for second layering. Such apparel let the cold air from the outside get trapped in the fibers and slowly warmed before getting into the body.

The third layer or outer layer is a tightly-woven garment and somewhat windproof or waterproof. Also known as the shell, its purpose is to protect the inner clothes against harsh elements like snow, wind, and light rain. The shell likewise protects your and your inner clothes against chafing, scrapes, and other damages. Windbreakers, overcoats or trench coats, snow pants, scarves, hats, and gloves are part of the outer layering. These are the clothing that has to take off upon entering or reaching a particular destination.
