The herpes virus is one of the most common viral problems that an individual may get. This is second most viral infection next to the influenza virus. There are two kinds of herpes; one is herpes simplex virus 1 which is the oral herpes and second is herpes simplex virus 2, the genital lesion herpes. Both of these have the same herpes treatment. Statistics shows that one in five adolescents and adults are infected with genital herpes and women are the ones who are commonly affected with this. The transmission of genital herpes however is prevalent in male infecting the female than the female infecting the males. When it comes to race, the African-Americans are more infected with genital herpes. Herpes treatment for this type is rather a more embarrassing because herpes simplex 2 is a sexually transmitted disease. On the other hand, the herpes simplex 1 virus affects mostly the children with ages 6 months to 3 years. There are reports saying that there are 80 per cent of adults in the United States that contains the antibodies of herpes simplex virus 1 so herpes treatment of this type is not so prevalent. Herpes treatment is designed to minimize the complications and at the same time making the virus dormant. The virus may again develop when a person encountered stress or illness because of the low immune system of the person. When the person has herpes, following signs and symptoms may show within 2 to 20 days Blisters filled with fluid in the genitalia or near the lips and is itching The patient may feel muscle pains and fatigue accompanied with fever and headache In cases of genital herpes, there is painful urination and swollen lymph nodes in the groin area In herpes treatment, there are drugs available to act on herpes outbreaks. These are antiviral drugs such as Valaclovir, Famcyclovir or Acyclovir. Amongst these, the Acyclovir is known in herpes treatment especially in initial outbreaks. This drug will also lessen the incoming herpes outbreaks. The Famcyclovir and Valaclovir have the same effects as Acyclovir and this can prevent herpes infection when taken as soon as the acute attack happens. There are also long-term drugs in herpes treatment. This is also called as the suppressive drugs because its main action is to reduce the herpes outbreak to about 85 percent and viral shedding to greater than 90 percent. This is ideal for those who are suffering many outbreaks of this disease. There are also antibiotic topical ointments to be applied on the affected area to avoid infections and other complications on the area. Aside from the treatments available, a person may also do one or more of the following especially when an outbreak occurs to make his or her day as comfortable as possible. Avoid exposing yourself to the excessive heat of the sun Always keep the area with lesion clean and dry It is okay to take paracetamol or ibuprofen to ease the pain Frequently wash hands when touching the sore area Wear clothes that are not fit to the body because it causes uncomfortable feeling
