Wirelining means the cable technology in which current is passed to the downhole log tools in the oil wells. Wireline is the term that is used fro defining the POTS or Plain Old Telephone Service and is generally the wired telephone that traditionally uses the copper wise for purposes like transmission. It juxtaposes the wireless telephone that utilizes the radio frequencies in order to carry important data.

The case collar locator is wireline equipment that is also popularly known as CCL and is the important and simple case hole electric line. It is used for the depth correlation and serves as an indictor of the line over speed while logging in the heavy fluids. Also, the setting tools form a part of wireline equipment that are used for setting the downhole completion elements and are generally made from large steel onto which it is easy to screw the downhole completion.

These setting tools are the electrical equipment that are used to push tool string into the hole thus overcoming the disadvantages of wireline bring dependent on gravity. These tools are utilized in deviated as well as horizontal wells in which there is insufficient gravity even after the roller stem. These tools push against the well’s sides either using the wheels or with the help of wormlike motion.

The measuring head serves to be the very first equipment piece that the wireline gets in contact with. This head includes various wheels that support wireline on the way to winch and even measure the important wireline data. On the other hand, the cable head is there at the upper portion of tool string on any wireline. This cable head is placed at the position where the conductor wire which connects to the remaining tool string. The cable head is custom built by wireline operator for almost every job, depending on the pressure, type and depth of the well bore fluid.

Even the grease injector head is one of the main equipment to control well pressure when running into a hole. This greasing head utilizes a set of small pipes that are known as the flow tubes to reduce the well’s pressure head. This grease is then injected at a very high pressure into the deepest of ends of the grease head in order to counteract the left over well pressure.

The wireline equipment used provides various advantages like they are used to maintain as well as repair the oil wells and eliminating the costly option of going with the work over rig in order to perform some well maintenance operations. The wireline tools are manufactured to perfectly suit the requirements of the customers and that too with zero rate of failure.

Needless to say, crucial wireline equipment is the head catcher that is a device positioned at top of lubricator section and looks just like a very small claw. In case the wireline becomes severe from the equipment, the ball check valve can be used to seal the well off from its surface. During the operations, the steel balls remains at the side of some confined region within the greasing head while a cable runs both in and out of the hole.
